Hailing from Westchester, NY, mezzo-soprano Emily Geller has been praised as “delightfully over the top” and “most enjoyable to watch and listen to”. This past summer she returned to Opera North (NH) to perform Oreste in Offenbach’s La belle Hélène and Hattie in Kiss Me, Kate. In previous seasons with the company, she performed Ma Moss in The Tender Land and Mrs. Jones in Street Scene where she was noted as, “com[ing] dangerously close to stealing the show with her effortless comic delivery.”
Recent performances include, Annina in La traviata with MidAtlantic Opera, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with Taconic Opera, and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel with Opera Pomme Rouge. Ms. Geller performed Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Kate in The Pirates of Penzance at the Natchez Festival of Music in Mississippi. As a two-year Resident Artist with Tri-Cities Opera, she performed numerous roles including: an “especially commended” Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, a “musically appealing” Mercédès in Carmen, Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, and Ines in Il trovatore. As a Tyler Young Artist with Opera on the James, Ms. Geller covered Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, and sang The Wife in Richard Wargo’s The Music Shop.
Concert soloist work includes Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Duruflé’s Requiem, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, and Handel’s Messiah. Ms. Geller earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory under the Ruth S. Morse Scholarship, and holds a Master of Music in Opera from Binghamton University where she received a full assistantship.
