Soprano Kathleen Farrar Buccleugh, described as “purely lovely” and “delightfully touching” by The Tuscaloosa News, is an accomplished young artist with a performance history reflecting her versatility in opera, oratorio, musical theatre and recital repertoire.
Ms. Buccleugh is looking forward to her St. Petersburg Opera debut as Ines in Il trovatore. This season she is also touring a recital tour featuring works by living American composers and is covering Adina with Opera Birmingham (March 2017).
She performed Rose Lennox (Lily cover) in Red Mountain Theatre Company’s The Secret Garden in April, and was a featured soloist in pop-up concerts with Opera Birmingham in October 2015 and April 2016. She also performed scenes as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) and Lakmé with Opera Breve at the National Opera Center in New York City in November 2015.
In the 2015 season, Ms. Buccleugh performed Frasquita in New Rochelle Opera’s production of Carmen, and performed Giannetta and covered Adina with Atlanta-based Peach State Opera’s The Elixir of Love.
Other career highlights for Ms. Buccleugh include performing Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Breve and a residency with Natchez Festival of Music, where she was Lilli Vanessi/Kate cover in Kiss Me, Kate.
Ms. Buccleugh is also an impassioned oratorio soloist and recitalist. Through solo recitals and performances in various venues across the Southeast, she has been able to explore music written by living American composers Juliana Hall, Libby Larsen, Jake Heggie, Lori Laitman, John Musto and others.
