MICHELLE SEIPEL is delighted to be performing once again at St. Petersburg Opera. Hailed as “an impressive soprano” of “considerable vocal agility and style” (Baltimore Sun), Ms. Seipel’s credits include roles such as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) with Opera Vivente and Rosina (The Barber of Seville) with American Landmark Festival. Combining her love of travel with her love of singing, she recently performed around the world (including Antarctica!) on Holland America’s MS Veendam. A true cross-over performer, Ms. Seipel made her debut with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players this year and has enjoyed performing Anne (A Little Night Music) with St. Petersburg Opera and Carrie (Carousel) with the Theater at Monmouth. On the Columbia Artists Theatricals national tour of Oliver!, she played several roles, including Mrs. Bedwin, Mrs. Sowerberry, Widow Corney, and even played flute with the orchestra. Other credits include The Tender Land with Skylight Opera (recorded for public television), and several Mozart roles, including Despina (Così fan tutte with St. Petersburg Opera) and the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute). Ms. Seipel has been the recipient of numerous awards, including awards from the Wisconsin District Metropolitan Opera Auditions and the Shreveport Opera Singer of the Year Competition. Originally from Wisconsin, this former actuary earned her master’s degree in music at the Peabody Conservatory.
