Emily Louise Robinson

Emily is excited to be returning to St. Petersburg Opera Company, where earlier this season she was delighted to cover the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. This last summer she was an apprentice artist during Teatro Nuovo’s inaugural season, where she prepared and performed excerpts of the role of Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro. Previously she spent a season as a Resident Young Artist at Opera Colorado where she performed Gretel and Micaëla in the company’s touring productions of Hansel and Gretel and Carmen respectively. On the main stage she sang the role of High Priestess in Aida and in the spring of 2016 covered the role of Hester Prynne in the world premiere of Lori Laitman’s The Scarlet Letter. Emily performed the role of Hester Prynne for the student matinee and can be heard on the recently released Naxos recording of The Scarlet Letter in the role of Goodwife One.

Robinson has degrees from New England Conservatory in voice, and the University of Chicago in Musicology. After graduation she worked as a research assistant and proof editor for Rossini scholar Philip Gossett.

Emily is now based in Houston, where she received a Performers Certificate from the University of Houston. There she sang the title role in Frau Margot, Beatriz in La hija de Rapaccini, Love Simpson in Cold Sassy Tree, and Magda in The Consu.l Emily was a 2015 Gulf Coast Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.
