AUDITIONS FOR PRINCIPAL AND COMPRIMARIO ROLES AND POSITIONS IN
OUR EMERGING ARTIST PROGRAM AND CHORUS FOR THE 2017/2018 SEASON

Casting decisions are being made, and artists are (slowly) being notified of their status.
NEW YORK and ST PETE AUDITIONS ARE FILLED.

SPO is pleased to announce auditions for its twelfth season.
Productions for the 2017/2018 include:
FAUST (Gounod), DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, LA TRAVIATA and THE MUSIC MAN. Also included in the season is a Holiday Production. Please read all of the following information before requesting an audition.
Auditions will be held MARCH 23, 24, 25 and 27, 2017 in NEW YORK CITY and in ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA ON APRIL 3 and 4, 2017 at the company’s main stage performance venue, the Palladium Theater.
SPO hears both managed and unmanaged singers at these auditions, but auditions are granted by invitation only upon review of artist materials. To apply for an audition, you must email your complete application to Michael Roberts, Artistic Administrator, at firstname.lastname@example.org . Please do not write the Artistic Director, Mark Sforzini, with your request. Requests from agents as well as unmanaged singers will only be handled through Michael Roberts, Artistic Administrator.
Only completed applications will be considered, and shall be handled on a first come first serve basis.
A completed application includes 1) cover letter, 2) resume, 3) headshot, and 4) the repertoire list you intend to offer at the audition. Applications lacking any of these components will not be considered.
Please do not send audio files at this time unless asked to do so. Please specify in your cover letter whether you are seeking an audition in NYC or St. Petersburg. You may also include additional information such as the roles for which you are auditioning as well as whether you are seeking employment as a Principal or Comprimario and/or our Emerging Artist Program.
Mr. Roberts shall attempt to notify applicants of their status within a week of receipt of artist’s materials. Those accepted to audition will need to pay an application fee of $30 (cash or check) at check-in prior to auditioning. An amazing accompanist is provided for auditions in both NYC and Florida. You may choose to bring your own accompanist.
Those artists who provide their own pianist may pay a reduced application fee of $20.
The deadline to apply for a NYC audition is March 13, 2017. The deadline to apply for an audition in St. Petersburg is March 17, 2017. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the dates fill up quickly and well before the deadline. SPO will not be scheduling additional audition dates or private auditions.

Gounod FAUST (in French) Performances on Oct. 20, 22, and 24, 2017
Rehearsals to begin approx. September 18, 2017
Mozart DIE ZAUBERFLöte (in German w/ English dialogue) Performances on Feb 2, 4, and 6, 2018
Rehearsals to begin approx. January 3, 2018
Verdi LA TRAVIATA (in Italian) Performances on June 1, 3, and 5, 2018
Rehearsals to begin approx. May 4, 2018
Willson THE MUSIC MAN in June/July 2018
