(Njegus) MATTHEW MCGEE comes back to St. Pete Opera after appearing in freeFall Theatre’s smash hit production of PIPPIN as Charlemagne/Berthe and Asolo Repertory Theatre’s production of Jeff Calhoun’s THE MUSIC MAN where he surprised audiences eight shows a week as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn. Matthew has long been a fixture on the Florida arts scene as an actor and drag performer for almost 20 years. His favorite credits include Bruce in regional premiere of Living On Love (Asolo Rep) Katisha in The Mikado (freeFall Theatre Company), Mother Superior in The Divine Sister (Stageworks), Frosch in Die Fledermaus (St. Pete Opera), and Edna Turnblad in Hairspray (American Stage In The Park).
Matthew is a three-time Theatre Tampa Bay Award winner (Outstanding Leading and Featured Actor in a musical) and a winner of Broadway World’s Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Auntie Mame in Mame (freeFall Theatre).
